Dear Mr. Taylor,

With reference to our telephone conversation

this morning about the visit which you have had from

Mr. J.G. Charlton, Assistant Government Marine

Surveyor, Hong Kong, I find that we have not yet

received from the Governor of the Colony anything

beyond this officer's leave certificate. I can only

assume that we shall get separately in due course a

despatch asking for him to be given facilities to

seek your advice on matters arising out of the gas

explosion in Hong Kong in 1934.

You will remember that the Home Office

supplied us with a memorandum in your official

letter of the 22nd of December, 1934, (513,579/40),

and this was duly communicated to the Hong Kong

Government. It is probable that Mr. Charlton wants

to consult you on behalf of the Colonial Government

G.S. TAYLOR, ESQ., O.B. E.
